How to use template tags in your theme

Those with experience of HTML might have noticed that in their theme's code there are a lot of tags -- strings surrounded by double curly brackets, like this:

{{example}}

These tags help create more dynamic pages by allowing you to create blocks of code that are only rendered when certain conditions are met. You can find the full reference, with explanations, of the tags you can use in your shop's code here:

You are free to use these tags wherever you'd like in your code to improve your theme. However, know that it does require some knowledge of HTML to implement these tags in your code. If you need a little bit of guidance, we have a few suggestions:

  • Ask in your personal network, among friends and relatives, if someone can help. You’ll be amazed of the hidden talent your friends have!
  • Hire a web developer who can help you! Two great places for finding freelancers are Elance.com and Upwork.com.
  • Learn how to do it your self! It’s not as difficult as you might think, we promise! HTML.net is a great place to start your journey.
