An order will be marked as pending when it needs to be reviewed before the money can be transferred. Either you are required to do a manual review or the payment service, i.e Tictail Payments, PayPal or Klarna, will perform it for you.
It's crucial that you never ship an order which is marked as pending since the money has not yet been transferred to your account.
Below are all the reasons why an order may be pending along with the necessary steps to solve the issue.
At Tictail we always try to keep our platform safe for shoppers and shop owners. Because your security is important, it means that if an order is flagged as high risk, it will be reviewed manually by our internal risk team to avoid future dispute claims and dispute fees. During the manual review the order will appear as pending in your dashboard.
When the risk level for the order has been lowered and the order is approved, it will appear in your dashboard as paid and is safe to ship. In some cases when the order’s risk level cannot be lowered in the review process, it will be denied, which will then automatically refund the full amount of the order.
PayPal says: You need to register an account or confirm your account email
There are two reasons you may see this message on your order:
1. The email address that you have entered under Payments > PayPal doesn't match any PayPal account. If you do not yet have a PayPal account, you can create one within 30 days of the sale and the money will be transferred to you. If you have simply misspelled your email address, the money will be held in an account under the incorrect email address. In this case, you will need to contact PayPal directly to transfer the funds to the correct account.
2. If you already have an account and have double-checked the spelling, you need to confirm your email address in PayPal. Before you can start receiving money, you need to confirm that you are the owner of the email address that you used to sign up for PayPal.
Important note: If you do not create a PayPal account and/or confirm your email address within 30 days, the funds will be returned to the customer.
PayPal says: You need to verify your account
To receive the money you need to verify your PayPal account. This can be done in your account page on PayPal.
PayPal says: The shipping address is not confirmed
PayPal could not confirm your shopper's shipping address at the checkout. You must manually review this order in your PayPal account.
You can disable or enable this feature in your PayPal settings. For more information about this feature: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/general/ShippingAddress-outside
PayPal says: Awaiting bank transaction
Your customers can pay directly via their bank account with PayPal. This may require a couple of extra days before the funds can be transferred to your account, however.
In this case, you don't have to do anything. Once the funds have been transferred the order will automatically be processed and marked as paid.
PayPal says: No account setup for withdrawal
If you created an account outside of the U.S., PayPal requires that you provide your bank details for future withdrawals. Until you have, all orders will need to be manually reviewed in your PayPal account.
PayPal says: You need to accept the currency conversion
Your PayPal account will not automatically accept all currencies. In your case, you must review the order as well as the applied conversion rate.
Just change your settings to accept all supported currencies in your PayPal account.
PayPal says: We're performing a risk review
PayPal has detected a risk for fraud and needs to review the order before accepting the transaction. Once they have investigated the order, you will be notified either way.
PayPal says: We're performing a regulatory review
PayPal has to review the order to ensure it meets the regulatory requirements before accepting the transaction. The review will be completed within 24-72 hours.
PayPal says: Contact us for more information
PayPal can review orders for any number of reasons. We recommend you contact their customer service in this case to learn more about your specific order.
When a Klarna order is marked as pending, it means that they are performing a manual review of the order. Once they have accepted or denied the transaction, you will automatically receive an update on the status of the order
