You have two options when offering discounts:
1) The sale price feature lets you put certain products on sale in your dashboard. Any shoppers who has saved the product to their shopper profile will receive a notification letting them know that the product is now on sale!
2) Discounts can be used shop-wide and automatically deducted at checkout, or you can generate promo codes to give out to groups or individual customers. You can also add a price threshold, to ensure that your customers spend above a certain sum in order for the discount to be applicable.
Creating a discount is as simple as picking the products or categories you want the discount to be applied to and whether the discount type should be percentage based or money off. And you can of course create as many discounts as you want! Actually, here's 10 reasons why should use discounts in your shop—just in case you're not convinced yet.
Let's create a discount!
1. Head over to the Marketing tab in your Tictail dashboard and select Discounts.
2. Here you have an overview of your shop's discounts; you can edit them by clicking on them. You can see which ones are active or inactive. To create a new one click Add discount.
3. Start by adding a title to your discount. This title will be visible in your discounts view but also in checkout for your customers.
4. If you want the discount to apply only when your customer enters a promo code at checkout, click the Require a promo code checkbox to select a promo code.
5. Or, you can leave the checkbox unchecked to automatically apply the discount at checkout. If you do not choose to require a promo code, the discount will be applied to all orders that fit the conditions you've established.
Please note! Discounts created through this feature will not be shown on your product pages and your product prices will not automatically reflect the discounted price. If you want your sale prices to be displayed on each product in your shop, please use the the sale price function in your Products tab instead. Read more about it here.
In the next step you have two different types of discounts to choose from:
6. Choose the Percent off you wish to offer.
7. Or, choose Money off and enter the amount of you wish to offer.
8. Now it's time to choose the conditions of the discount. Choose what the discount should apply to, wether it is all products, a category, or a specific product. You're free to specify the maximum number of uses for this discount, as well as add a price threshold, which means that the discount only applies to orders that exceed a predetermined purchase total.
9. You can also choose the time frame you'd like the discount to be valid:
Please note! If you don't set an end date for a discount campaign, it will be active until you deactivate it manually.
10. If you want to activate the discount in your shop, make sure to check the Discount is active box. Similarly, uncheck the Discount is active box to deactivate it. Don't forget to click Save!
Please note! Your customers only can use one discount per order and will not be able to combine two or more. This applies for both promo codes and automatically deducted discounts in the checkout.
Below are two examples of how you can set up your discounts in different ways:
Example 1: If you have selected a 20% percent discount to be automatically deducted at checkout. This means that a person shopping for $100 will automatically get $20 deducted from their order. And so they will end up only paying $80.
Example 2: Let's say instead that you've connected a promo code called BLACKFRIDAY to a discount which gives $30 off all orders of $150 and over. Only customers who know about the promo code will be able to get this discount deducted after they have typed it the promo code field at checkout. This means that a customer shopping for $150 will receive a discount of $30 after applying the code, and end up only paying $120. This also means that a customer buying for $100 will not receive a discount, even if they apply the correct promo code.
