Tackle holiday sales as a small brand

As a small brand it’s not always easy to keep up with the pace of the holiday season, so here are a few tips on how to stay afloat: 

1. Make the most of your time

Schedule out your time, hour by hour and have a set process for tasks like packaging. It's best to get everything prepped (boxing, packaging, labels, etc.) ahead of time!

2. Stock up on materials

Make sure you have enough materials to not only make, but also ship your products. As a jewelry maker, your list might look something like: silver, gold, solder, gemstones, jars, bags, stickers, business cards, envelopes and so on.

3. Set a "last day to order" date

Establish a day as the last day your customers can purchase to receive their product by the holidays. It's important to announce the cut-off to your customers in a newsletter or your social media channels to avoid last-minute orders (and end up with disappointed customers). You'll want to take the production, packaging, and shipping time into consideration when estimating your "last day to order."

4. Start fresh

You'll probably want to “clean up” your order list in mid-November, to start fresh during the holidays. Invest the time prior to the rush so you can keep up (and stay sane) during this holiday push. 

5. Discount and advertise

Offer a discount or a package deal to incentivize your shoppers. We can guarantee that you'll see more orders if you have discounted products; shoppers, who are buying more than usual, will appreciate lower prices during this season. Make sure to advertise your products more than usual: Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, Google AdWords, etc. Focus on getting your products in front of shoppers on social media and through email blasts.

6. Spice it up

Do something to “spice things up” a bit. Accent your packaging with a tasteful and festive box, bag, or ribbon, include a special holiday greeting card, throw in a small gift -- anything to delight your shopper (and keep them coming back!).
